Medical pouch carriage for hunting in New Zealand

Compare pouch mounting and pack clearance, then check your medical kit and wider trip preparation before heading out.

Krieger Medic Sausage Roll in Multicam

Lay out your first aid supplies beside the pack you take hunting. Check the space you need before choosing a pouch, then test the mounting position with your loaded pack on. A pouch at your waist may sit beneath the pack’s hip belt once you shoulder the load.

Use DOC’s hunting gear list alongside a plan for your own trip. DOC includes a personal first aid kit and a personal locator beacon, and warns that a phone may not work in the backcountry. A medical pouch covers one part of that preparation.

Choose a mounting method that fits your pack

The Micro IFAK 2.0 in Ranger Green supports MOLLE clips, One-Wrap or its integrated belt loop. It measures 100 × 140 × 33 mm empty. Compare those dimensions with your packed supplies before ordering.

For a roll-out layout, look at the Medic Sausage Roll in Multicam. Check that your pack or belt provides the attachment surface it needs. A plain pack strap may need another mounting solution.

Krieger supplies both pouches empty. Choose medical contents to suit your first aid training and trip, with advice from a qualified first aid provider if you need help selecting them.

Test access with your hunting layers on

Fit the pouch, put on your rain jacket and shoulder your pack. Check whether you can reach the closure without loosening another strap. Show your companions where you carry the kit before leaving.

Protect moisture-sensitive supplies with suitable waterproof packaging. After a wet trip, inspect the contents and replace damaged or expired items.

Keep visibility separate from pouch colour

DOC recommends clothing that contrasts with the environment so other hunters can identify you. Follow that advice when choosing what to wear. You can choose a pouch colour for your carry setup while retaining contrasting clothing.

Browse the New Zealand hunting range for medical and utility pouches. Check fit and access at home, with the load you expect to carry.
